Greg Cherry joins QD Events

The Scottish Event Campus (SEC) has announced the appointment of Greg Cherry as managing director of exhibitions organiser QD Events.

Cherry has a wealth of experience in the events industry. He led the development of the commercial arm of Freeman’s UK business, building the exhibition contracting arm as well as the development of the design and build business. Prior to this, he was responsible for the commercial arm of ADNEC Exhibition Centre in Abu Dhabi being instrumental in the business achieving its fastest growth in the number and size of exhibitions secured for the venue.

In his new role, Cherry will be responsible for providing management, development and leadership for the QD Events team. He will also be an integral member of the team involved in planning the future development and sustainable growth of the business.

Peter Duthie, chief executive at the SEC, commented: “We are delighted that Greg has accepted the role of managing director of QD Events. His extensive experience in exhibitions and commercial development will be a huge asset in driving the business forward. His appointment comes at a time when QD Events continues to grow providing a solid contribution to the Group.”

Founded in 2007 QD Events is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the SEC. The company has delivered 68 events to over two million visitors. Its current portfolio includes The Scottish Caravan, Motorhome and Holiday Home Show, The Scottish Wedding Show, IRN-BRU Carnival, Independent Living Scotland, and Resonate, the Festival of eSports and Gaming.
