Logistics summit headed to Manchester in 2018

Manchester-Central-

Future Logistics Summit & Expo is a dedicated exhibition and conference looking at the key developments in the age of the digitalisation of logistics. The event will be held at the Manchester Central Convention Complex on 28 February and 1 March 2018.

The event organiser has revealed that ITS (UK), the association for the promotion of Intelligent Transport Systems, is backing the exhibition.

ITS (UK) secretary general Jennie Martin said: “ITS (UK) are delighted to support the Future Logistics Summit and encourage all our members, not just the ones involved in our Freight Interest Group, to take part. We look forward to meeting members and other parts of the industry in Manchester next spring.”

The Future Logistics Summit focuses on how manufacturers will be delivering their products and managing their supply chain over the next 10 years via road, rail, air and sea.

Event director Gary Gilmour said that the event will look to address the challenges, threats and opportunities that the digitalisation of logistics will bring.

“With particular focus on connected freight for air, land and sea, as well as intelligent transport systems, and by co-locating with our manufacturing events, we expect to attract over 2,000 attendees from the manufacturing and logistics communities,” Gilmour enthused.

Manchester has been chosen to host the exhibition and summit due to its role in the logistics sector. “A total of 1.65bn tonnes of freight are lifted by all modes per annum, of which some 0.5 billion tonnes is traffic through ports and airports. A little over a third of this total activity takes place in the North of England,” read a statement on the event’s website.

4th industrial revolution

The summit will run alongside the Industry 4.0 Summit & Factories of the Future Expo. The event focuses on the digital transformation of manufacturing, often referred to as industry 4.0 or the 4th industrial revolution.

Altogether these events will give visitors access to the complete modern digital supply chain from design and development, through to manufacturing and delivery.

The Future Logistics Summit & Expo and Industry 4.0 Summit & Factories of the Future Expo are organised by GB Media and Events.
