VisitNorway will be bringing Norway to the UK with two exclusive events in 2017, one in London on 3 May and the second in Manchester on 4 May.

The events will give attendees a taste of what the Scandinavian country has to offer event organisers.

Britt Gorniok of tourism board VisitNorway commented: “Firstly we want to raise the profile of Norway in front of leading MICE agencies. We also want to educate them about our country and the Norwegian partners’ destinations.

“We hope to create a platform to enable Norwegian partners to network with event organisers across the UK.”

Both events will take place in the evening, but will offer very different experiences, giving attendees a taste of Norwegian culture and the chance to compete for unique prizes and experiences, including a trip to Norway.

The London event will take place at the city’s oldest botanical gardens, Chelsea Physic Garden. It has been chosen as it encapsulates the ethos of Norway’s Powered by Nature campaign and provides a glimpse of summertime in the country, setting the stage for the ‘Green Hat Norway Challenge’.

The Manchester event will be held at Chill Factore, the UK’s longest indoor ski slope, providing a perfect setting for the first ‘Cool Agency Challenge’ in the north of England.

“Norway’s USP is its amazing and accessible nature,” continued Gorniok. “It is well connected to Europe and the wider world, with hundreds of flights to the continent every day.

“More and more of Norway’s tourism industry follow sustainable principles. Much of the tourism industry in Norway conforms to certificates and standards of environmentally friendly conduct, most notably under Green Travel and Ecotourism Norway.

“These labels ensure that strict rules and regulations in pollution, recycling and energy use are followed, and make it easier for customers to choose to travel in an eco-friendly way.”
