NEC Group confirms two senior directors' departure

Paul Thandi, CEO of the NEC Group, in Birmingham, UK, has confirmed that two senior directors are to leave the business in a shake up in the international management team.

“As a business we are continually reviewing and refining the way we operate, and following a restructure of NEC Group International (NECGI) to reflect the position of the business and its future focus, the roles currently held by Nick Waight (managing director, NECGI) and Catherine Newhall-Caiger (business development director) have been made redundant,” said Thandi.

“Going forward, Claire Greenwood and Phil Mead – the driving force behind the NEC Group’s successful bid (as part of a consortium) to design, build, finance and operate the Colisée Grand Paris, a new 10,000 capacity sport and entertainments arena in Paris – will head up NECGI in their continued roles as project director and managing director, NEC Group Arenas, respectively.

“Nick and Catherine leave the business in a strong position and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank them for their efforts over almost 30 years at the NEC Group and to wish them all the best for their future careers.”

A restructure last year summer saw the NEC Group consolidated its conference and exhibition function. The NEC Group’s management contract for Dublin CCD ended in December.
