AMERICAS – Reed Exhibitions has added more sparkle to its jewellery event portfolio with the acquisition of Jewelers International Showcase (JIS).

The showcase presents three trade events for jewellery retailers in January, April and October at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

Reed Exhibitions officials said the JIS event cycle was timed to offer buyers the opportunity to place last-minute orders with about 700 exhibitors before major holiday buying seasons.

JIS will complement Reed Exhibitions' JCK Events as part of the organiser’s US jewellery portfolio.

JCK senior vice president Yancy Weinrich said: “This is an exciting opportunity to expand our jewelry portfolio, offering our customers broader reach to retailers in the Caribbean and Latin American markets.”

Jordan Tuchband, JIS vice president of sales and operations, will join Reed Exhibitions as industry vice president for JIS Events.

"JIS' product range covers all price points from high-end designers to popular-most of the products on the show floor represent middle and higher price points, which are ideal for the retail audience that JIS attracts," Tuchband said.

"There is something for every type of retailer at JIS, including independent stores that place lower volume orders. JIS also allows the immediate delivery of jewelry, which eliminates a long wait for retailers to have product delivered."

Michael Breslow, who built JIS Events over the past four decades, will also continue to offer his expertise as a consultant to Reed Exhibitions.
