Inaugural wood exhibition attracts overseas exhibitors

MALAYSIA - The Malaysian Timber Council (MTC) says it has received a strong international response to its first Global WoodMart exhibition.

Exhibitors at the event currently include companies from the UK, France, China, Brazil, New Zealand, South Korea, the US and Ghana.

MTC CEO, Cheah Kam Huan, says the trade exhibition would cover softwoods to temperate and tropical hardwoods, from the raw material through to finished products. "It is an opportunity to meet suppliers from around the world in one place," he adds. "It’s a generic promotion of wood."

The exhibition hopes to attract local and overseas timber suppliers, agents, distributors, importers, manufacturers and wholesalers. Visits to local factories and forests can also be arranged.

Global WoodMart 2010 takes place on 19 to 20 October at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
