World Travel Market to introduce new sports pavilion

UK - Travel industry exhibition World Travel Market (WTM) is to unveil a new sports pavilion at this year’s event.

The launch follows the first Sports Tourism conference programme at WTM last year, which included speakers from the 2010 football World Cup, London 2012 Olympic Committee and the Canadian 2010 Winter Olympics.

WTM sales executive, Christian Vicente, says: “A report by Future Brand Country Index states that sports tourism is worth a staggering $51bn a year. The pavilion is an exciting initiative which will allow the world’s sporting venues to be showcased in a dedicated area.”

So far, venues exhibiting within the new pavilion include Lords (cricket), Wimbledon (tennis), Twickenham (rugby) and Wembley (football), with Premiership football stadiums like Stamford Bridge (Chelsea), Old Trafford (Manchester United) and Emirates Stadium (Arsenal) also in attendance.

World Travel Market takes place from 8 to 11 November at Excel London.
