Conference and exhibition launched for US public sector green professionals

USA - The Center for Environmental Innovation and Leadership (CEIL) has launched a major event for state sector professionals working on green programmes.

The GOVgreen Conference and Exposition takes place, 9-10 November 2010, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC.

Free for federal and military employees, the event will include an exhibition devoted to green products and solutions.

“The federal government is at a crossroads,” says organiser CEIL’s chief executive Robert Harar. “Agencies are mandated to meet aggressive new environmental standards and managers have a critical need for information about green products and services. Our mission is to facilitate that information exchange.”

Harar previously launched both the FOSE and GovSEC exhibitions, both targeted to government professionals.

Under Executive Order 13514, signed last November, US federal agencies are mandated to comply with a broad range of sustainability targets. Meeting those mandates requires agencies to develop and implement green programmes and practices agency-wide.

“There is so much information available through government and private sector sites that it can be overwhelming. Our mission is to provide a top-level view of relevant information organised into focus areas that align with the Executive Order,” says president of CEIL, Ann Seltz.
