CANADA - Canada's largest convention and exhibition centre, The Direct Energy Centre in Toronto (pictured), is extending its offering by creating an onsite hotel.
The 350-room hotel is due to open in 2013 and will be affiliated with HK Hotels. It will be HK Hotels' first property in Canada, and the venue's first onsite hotel.
The Direct Energy Centre's marketing co-ordinator, Dionne Bishop, says:"The hotel project adds to a strategy to boost the appeal of the centre and is deemed necessary to attract business."
The development will be a year-round attraction with resort-style facilities, 400 car parking spaces, extensive green areas, and local amenity links.
HK Hotels is a privately-run company that successfully operates four boutique hotels in New York.
