Spanish fashion expo returns to original slot

SPAIN – The summer edition of the Madrid International Fashion Fair (SIMM) has been pushed back to re-occupy its original slot in September.

The decision to move the show, which takes place at Feria de Madrid, follows a period of two years in which it took place in July, owing to pressure from exhibitors and visitors.

"The SIMM organising committee requested that the fair take place in September instead of in July, as has been the case in recent years, in view of the fact that September is more appropriate for textile traders," said the fair's director, Pola Iglesias.

Iglesias added that the decision coincides with the results of an external survey to gauge exhibitors and visitor opinion.

The postponement means that SIMM will now open the IFEMA fair calendar after the summer break, on 2-4 September, inaugurating a cycle of fashion fairs at Feria de Madrid throughout the month.

According to organisers there were 17,500 buyers at last year’s event, with 12 per cent attending the fair from abroad.
