New Montego Bay venue to hold 6,000

JAMAICA – Jamaica hopes to break into the corporate events industry with the opening of a new exhibition and conference venue in Montego Bay.

Montego Bay Convention Centre will hold up to 6,000 people and include 4,800sqm of exhibition space, 2,000sqm of banquetting space and 1,000sqm of meeting rooms.

“The convention centre will be part of the critical infrastructure necessary to facilitate the repositioning of Jamaica as an events destination in the global tourism market,” says Jamaica’s minister of tourism, Edmund Bartlett.

The completion date is meant to coincide with the beginning of the 2010 winter tourist season.
