Dickens letter to be sold at book fair

UK - A signed letter from Charles Dickens will be up for sale at the Harrogate Provincial Booksellers’ Fairs Association Book Fair.

The letter, dated 7 September 1852, is addressed to Mr William Locke. In it, Dickens mentions Locke’s “kind-hearted friend” and says “I should be happy to give you my autography for him,” adding: “And here it is, in proof of fact,” just above the author’s signature.

The book fair will run from 19 to 20 March at Pavilions of Harrogate, and will feature nearly 80 booksellers including those selling antique books and modern first editions.
