SPAIN/UK - A London schoolboy has applied himself so keenly to technology that he has been asked to act as an advisor at a major technology conference and exhibition Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this week.
Dylan Maryk, who is 14 and from Kensington, caught the Congress organisers’ eye after they read about him designing his own iPhone applications in the Evening Standard newspaper.
Maryk has been invited to report to the conference and pass on ideas to CEOs, including from the likes of Google, Vodafone and Spotify, to help them attract young people to such events.
"The organisers emailed me the same day the Standard printed my story. I’m looking forward to seeing the new phones and technology in the exhibition and also the special area about application development," says Maryk.
Maryk’s first iPhone application, MusicAlarm, has been downloaded 3,000 times and he launched iWink in time for Valentines Day, an app allowing people to flirt via their handsets.
"It’s a great opportunity for Dylan to be introduced to some of the leaders in this industry," his father, Denis, says of the Mobile World Congress invitation.
