Merlin to launch Madame Tussauds Vienna

AUSTRIA - Merlin Entertainments is coming to Austria, where the group is set to open its 11th Madame Tussauds wax attraction and event space. The £10m Madame Tussauds Vienna will open at the tourist site Prater Park in 2011.

The attraction will be home to wax imitations of 70 famous Austrians, including Freud, Einstein and composers Mozart, Haydn and Strauss.

MD of Merlin's Midway brands, Glenn Earlam, told the leisureopportunities.co.uk site: "Madame Tussauds Vienna is a very exciting development for Merlin. It will be our fourth site in Europe after London, Berlin and Amsterdam. We will be working closely with both Prater Services, and our new landlords, Calafati, to create a stunning attraction which we believe will be a 'must-do' place for everyone visiting Vienna."

Prater Park hosted the World Exhibition in 1873 and currently receives around three million visitors a year.
