Haymarket exhibitions head resigns

UK - Simon Daukes has resigned from his position as group MD of Haymarket Exhibitions after five years at the helm.

Starting his Haymarket career in 1979 as a sales executive with Autosport magazine, Daukes’ notice comes weeks after the founder and executive chairman of Haymarket Media Group, Lord Michael Heseltine announced his retirement.

"The past 10 years have been a particularly exciting time for Haymarket," says Daukes. "We have grown fast and developed into a varied and complex operation. I am proud to have led varied parts of the business through this growth despite the turmoil of economic change in recent times.”

Haymarket Business Exhibitions joint MDs Gavin Brown and Laura Biggs will assume responsibility for Daukes' role.

Daukes has not said what he will be doing after stepping down, however, he says: “As the economy starts to emerge from recession I look forward to the future and driving forward exciting new businesses.”
